This Campaign is designed to start small and end big. To start the campaign simply follow the steps below, play through the different stages, and enjoy the diverse play Middle Earth Strategy Battle will provide.
To form an Army, use the sheets provided below. Choose Good, or Evil as your Cause. Name your army. Notice the slots for Army Roster, the first two are marked as Battle Company. When you start War is coming! you will only have a single Battle Company to battle with. The blank marked Followers is where you will keep track of how many followers in the realm are behind your cause. This number is also the size limit of your Army in points. In between battles this number will grow by making a Follower Rolls. Roll 1 dice at the end of the battle for each of the following.
-each point of Might, Will, and Fate your army used during the battle.
-your army was victorious.
-none of your Army's Heroes were lost in the battle.
-all models from your Army died in the battle.
-all models in your opponent's army died in Battle or Fled.
-all models in your Battle Company survived the battle.
Roll the number of dice you qualify to roll, add the dice totals together and multiply that number by 10. Add that number to your Followers stat, thus increasing the number of points you can access for your Army Roster. Battle Companies do not count when determining the size limit of your Army.
Followers Drafted will be the number of points actually in your Army Roster. To add a unit to your army, you must first Draft a Hero, and then their followers. List these models on the Army Roster beneath the hero they are following, along with their point cost. If you already have a Hero on your Army Roster who has not reached its max followers limit, new forces can be added under this Hero without adding a Hero with them. Your first hero must be a Tier-4 hero. To add a higher Tier Hero to your Army, you must have at least one Hero of the Tier beneath the Tier being added. IE: A Tier-1 hero cannot be added unless the Army Roster already has a Tier-2 Hero. Tier-5 models can be added at any time. Any followers listed under a Hero must go to war with that hero when it is taken to Battle.
There is no limit to the number of Followers an Army can have, and new models can be drafted to the Army Roster at any time, as long as the Followers Drafted total does not exceed the number of Followers.
To build a Battle Company you will need to refer to the MESBG Battle Companies Rule Book, and the roster sheets provided below. Start by deciding whether you represent the forces of good or evil. Choose your Companie's name, and decide your Company Type, for example, Elendil's Vengeance, The Last Alliance. You are able to select three of your Battle Company members to become Heroes. Choose these three members, and assign one of them to be your Leader, and the other two to be your Sergeants. Now give them each 1 point of Might, Will and Fate. If your Leader should ever die, one of the Sergeants must replace the dead Leader, and a new member of your Battle Company gets promoted to Sergeant. You can only ever have 1 Leader and 2 Sergeants in your Battle Company. These Heroes can only use Universal Heroic actions at the start and can gain access to Specialized Heroic Actions as they progress. Although your Battle Company can recruit new members, it can never exceed 15 models. Only 33% of your Battle Company can be armed with bows, unless otherwise stated. If a model you want to add to your Battle Company has the RARE X rule, X=the max number of this model you can have in your Battle Company. Now that you have a Battle Company, you can begin your journey.
The forces of good and evil are readying for all out conflict in Middle Earth. Small bands of like-minded individuals see the importance of joining the fray. Though their numbers are few, as they battle forth, others are sure to follow. Now is the time for battle! Using the limitations below, find an opponent, preferably the enemy, and choose the Type of Scenario you wish to play. You can only play the type of game both players qualify to play. These battle formats are listed below. Once you have Played a game, perform the in-between battle phase as guided in each section. If your army alone does not meet the requirements to play a certain Type of Scenario, you may team up with another player to fight a single player, or another group of players. If this happens, teams count as a single player, and take a combined turn. If multiple players are involved, All Follower Rolls results are divided equally among the allied players.
These sheets will help you organize and keep track of your Battle Company and Army progress.
